I am an IT manager and at the same time coach of women's national judo team in the Philippines. I learned respect, humility and good philosophy in life through judo. My late Prof Y Takeuchi told me in 1991 SEAG, I was crying because I only got a bronze and he knew that I want to win the gold. He told me, that to be champion in SEAG, you must have a perfect technique, excellence is the key word to win. On the next SEAG in 1993 in Singapore, I got a gold medal. Once again, the wise old teacher told me... judo will teach you not just to be champion in competition but also to be champion in life. Each time, I did something good in life, I always remember him.... Prof Takeuchi... my mentor.

judo teaches you to resolve conflicts in much better ways than violence. it is the gentle way. the discipline you acquire in judo if applied in real life simply translates to respect

Judo's spirit is telling us to respect each other and not care about personal gains and losses, it's a philosophy of life.
